Born on May 5th 1983 in Pakistan, ENCS lives and works in Montreuil, France. He was 6-month-old when he arrived in Saint-Denis with his family. He discovered graffiti at the age of 13 and was captivated by a wall of Mode 2 at the Porte de Montreuil flea market. A self-taught artist, ENCS started to paint graffiti at the age of 16. Since then, he paints daily on all media: on canvas in his studio or on the walls of many vacant lots and industrial wasteland.
His style, influenced by the pioneers of Paris and New York, is part of the tradition of dynamic, colorful and explosive lettering! Its particularity lies in its remarkable and meticulous work of the light, allowing a setting in volume or in value of each letter. His passion: to travel as often as he can and paint in unusual places such as the gates of the Sahara, next to the Berrima Mosque, the 3 Kings Mosque or on Copacabana beach in Rio de Janeiro.
The first time I touched a spray paint we skipped school with some friends and went on the Rer A tracks at 4 p.m. I made a disgusting chrome piece and then we heard the train horn and left. I came back later on to finish my piece and take some pictures of the walls. A good memory despite everything…
The young generation is painting more than us and they are clearly doing the job as there is no longer a street without a tag. However the notion of a hall of fame has disappeared. Back in the days, painting over someone who was better than you and telling him it’s ok because it is a legal spot was not tolerated.
The craziest spot that I've hit are The Champs Élysée during the World Cup final with Disek and Aigre...
I don't listen to rap much. I prefer reggae. When I paint with Berthet we never paint without music.
I am also lucky to have chill spots. It gives me the time to concentrate on a piece and take an extra day to finish it if necessary. I take all the time I need from tracing to the final tag.
